Ministry of Higher Education of Oman continuous it's Journey to Excellence!

September 2017: After the successful pilot phase in Spring 2017 the Ministry started its second wave of the Journey to Excellence in September 2017 with EFQM Self-Assessments in three Directorates General, in the Minister’s Office, and in the Undersecretary’s Office. Again, Lean Project Management trainings were conducted, followed by ten Excellence projects. These projects will be finished and ready for deployment by January 2018. There are clear indications so far that these Excellence projects will lead to substantial, annual costs savings, and will result in better work quality.

The start of this successful Journey to Excellence was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Karl J. Koller, international Excellence expert and EFQM advisor/trainer from the Institute for Total Quality Management (ITQM), Zurich, Switzerland.

  • The EFQM Leaders for Excellence Training gave me a new view about Quality. I learned about a holistic Excellence Framework that helps organizations to develop towards Excellence. I wish more of our leaders would know about the EFQM Excellence Model. Developing our organizations towards Excellence would be very beneficial for our customers, our organizations, and our country.

  • The training was very beneficial for me. I learned during the three-day Assessor Training about Excellence and how I can conduct an assessment in an organization based on best practice standards. All leaders in government organizations should have knowledge about the EFQM Excellence Framework and should take actions to follow the best practice standards in their organizations. We would then be able to make improvements more quickly in all areas of government services, helping to bring our country forward.

  • The workshop conducted by Dr. Koller gave me many new ideas for quality improvement within the university and showed me the way to Excellence.
